Sports Premium
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding; ring fenced money to spend on improving the quality of PE and sports provision. Each school receives £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil year from 1-6. At St Barnabas Primary School that will mean £16,950 for this academic year.
At St Barnabas CEVC Primary School Sport is something we are very proud of. Children have rich and varied opportunities to take part in sport for fun, personal achievement and development, physical development and competition.
We are well resourced. Teachers and coaches who deliver PE in Curriculum time, and who facilitate extra curricular sporting opportunities, are passionate about what they do and help our children to achieve in all areas of sport and physical activity.
However, there are always ways we can improve our provision and practice. The additional Sports and PE Funding will help us greatly.
We plan to:
1. Raise fitness levels of children through more active playtimes and lunchtimes opportunities for all.
2. Sports Leaders and Playground Buddies
3. More successful at competitive tournaments
4. Less engaged children have more opportunities to try new things
5. Olympic and Paralympic celebrations to inspire the children
6. Ensure Bikeability and Walk Safe awards are completed
7. Wheels to School week
Head teachers decide how best to spend the Premium funding, although they remain accountable and must be able to demonstrate effective spending and impact across the school. The Department of Education requires schools in receipt of the funding, to publish evidence of their annual spend and its impact:
