Vision and Values

Our vision and values lie at the heart of everything we do in school.

Children, staff and governors all played a part in creating them and, as a result, they form our shared ethos and moral purpose.

They enable all children to achieve, flourish and succeed through:

A high expectation for all children to achieve their potential through a rich, inspiring curriculum.

Working in partnership with parents and with a strong network of schools to build and develop the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Providing a safe, secure and supportive environment in which all children and adults are valued and respected, and develop a strong sense of self worth.

A caring and inclusive school that engages families and the community and celebrates its diversity of cultures and religions.

Giving children the confidence and desire to make a meaningful contribution to the wider world and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

As well as teaching to a high academic standard we also care about nurturing the whole child. Children develop a sense of fairness, equality and justice as well as a strong sense of their own identity and respect for others.

Our staff are trained to plan for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in everything we do to inspire children to become critical thinkers; expressive and confident on their journey towards independence.

Our Values

At the heart of our school ethos are our four core values: compassion, hope, courage and respect. We integrate teaching the values throughout all lessons and our wide range of sporting, cultural and arts based enrichment activities.

Being a church school means that every day there is a meaningful act of Christian worship either in the school hall or in the classrooms where children come together as a whole school, a key stage or a class to observe the traditions of The Church of England.

As a church school we have Christian beliefs and values at our heart. As a church school we recognise that as well as academic and emotional intelligence human beings also have spiritual intelligence. At St Barnabas the spiritual aspects of life are recognised, and nurtured alongside the academic and emotional needs of all.

Our Vision

Our school family is a strong, vibrant Christian community, with a mission to inspire a love of God, each other and learning. This helps us all grow in faith, wisdom and compassion. Once ‘rooted in love’ we flourish: living fruitfully, branching out and sharing God’s love in St Barnabas and beyond.

Within God’s love, we will support and encourage one another to grow and flourish.

Nurture, Grow, Flourish

Jesus said: ‘Love each other as I have loved you’. John 15:12

Collective Worship

As a Church of England school, we aim to embody Christian values in our ethos and teaching. At the heart of our school are a set of core Christian Values. These underpin our whole ethos, curriculum and school life and aim to ensure our pupils leave St Barnabas CE Primary School as happy, secure, caring and responsible citizens. The values we promote are important within the school community and are values which will be important throughout life. In all that we do we strive to share, encourage and demonstrate positive values with our children; in order that they understand them and strive to live by them. Our school assemblies are based on these Christian Values. Each half term a value is studied in detail. The values covered include: Hope, Courage, Compassion and Respect.

Our worship is a precious time for children and adults to come together, spend time in reflection, thinking about our values, ourselves and our world. We provide opportunities for children to be quiet and reflective, to consider bigger issues and their own philosophy, to grow spiritually themselves, to grow in their relationships with others and our world and to think about the intangible, whatever their faith or non-faith position.

EQUA Mead Learning Trust

Our family of like-minded schools collaborate to provide mutual support, share best practice and learn from each other, whilst retaining and developing each school's distinctive character. We believe all children and young people have the right to a great education and we seek to improve the life chances of all those we serve; it is our mission to give Every Child, Every Chance of success.
