Our Theological Statement

At St Barnabas CEVC Primary School, our community chosen values of  Aspire, Belong and Love are rooted in the words of John:

“Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12

We believe that love is the foundation of all Christian living. From this foundation flows:

Aspiration – striving to be the best we can be, using our God-given gifts in service of others.
Belonging – recognising that in Christ we are one body, where every child and adult is valued and has a place.
Love – we show kindness, care, honesty, respect and forgiveness, just like Jesus.

Together, these values shape our school community so that every child can flourish academically, socially and spiritually, growing in confidence as unique and loved children of God.

Linking with the EQUA Mead Learning Trust Vision

As part of the EQUA Mead Learning Trust, our vision at St Barnabas is rooted in a shared commitment to ensuring that every child flourishes. EQUA Mead’s mission is to develop happy young people with enquiring minds, a spirit of curiosity, and respect for themselves, others, and the environment.

Our St Barnabas values of Aspiration, Belonging and Love live this out in practice:

  • Aspiration echoes the Trust’s belief in equipping pupils with skills, resilience and adaptability to thrive in a changing world.

  • Belonging mirrors the Trust’s commitment to valuing every member of the community and ensuring they feel included and supported.

  • Love reflects EQUA Mead’s emphasis on respect, compassion and care for others, fostering a culture where everyone can flourish.

Our Christian underpinning of:

“Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12

Together, this shared vision ensures that children at St Barnabas are nurtured to flourish in their learning, relationships and personal growth, preparing them for the future as confident and compassionate members of society.
