HEADTEACHER’S WELCOME

Welcome to St Barnabas Primary School. Our school has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, fostering an environment that encourages children to reach their full potential. We understand the importance of a nurturing school environment for the overall development of your child. At St Barnabas, we provide an enriching curriculum coupled with a strong emphasis on character building and personal growth. We welcome you to be a part of our community and look forward to working together to provide the best educational experience for your child. Thank you for considering St Barnabas Primary for your child's education.

Fostering a love of reading is something we are passionate about. Children are immersed in an enjoyable reading curriculum and will come home talking about their favourite stories, characters and books! We put energy into helping children learn to read fluently as quickly as possible as we know this prepares them well for the challenges of the wider curriculum.

Classrooms and learning spaces have been thoughtfully designed to reflect our vision and ethos, enabling children to be independent and curious with opportunities to follow their own ideas and interests. New starters in our Nursery and  Reception classes enjoy learning in a safe, stimulating and attractive free-flow learning environment with its own large outdoor area. Teachers and learning support staff are highly skilled and know exactly when to intervene to enhance children’s learning and when to step back and allow their creativity to flourish.

At St Barnabas, we strongly believe that learning is enriched and made more memorable through first hand experiences. Enquiry themed days, school trips and specialist visitors stimulate children’s interests as well as bring the curriculum to life. Our biannual whole school trip to the pantomime is a firm favourite with the whole school! We have our own Forest school leader and make excellent use of our beautiful surroundings so children take part in regular outdoor learning. St Barnabas offers a well-resourced environment with a computer suite, library, music, courtyard garden and a large playing field. Children have the opportunity to join a wide range of activity clubs during and after school.

All staff understand the need to nurture the whole child and are supported by our Family Link Worker who plays a key role in nurturing children’s wellbeing. They are also there to offer guidance, support and a listening ear for parents.

Our nursery is an integral part of our school and works closely with our reception classes to help prepare children for starting school, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with school life and take part in whole school activities. We also provide our own high quality, affordable wrap around care- breakfast and after school club.

Please contact the school office if you wish to organise a visits. I look forward to welcoming you to St Barnabas Primary school.
